Each year by Memorial Day weekend, every cabin owner is required by the U.S. Forest Service to clear brush, leaves, pine needles, dead branches, and other debris, at least fifty feet in all directions surrounding the cabins, garages, and outbuildings. Those who do not comply will be CITED AND FINED.
For over 50 years we have made the annual clean-up a “family and friends” event, hard work followed by fun, play, and socializing, the highlight being a huge breakfast on Saturday of “aebleskiver” made by Grandpa John, along with bacon, mini sausages, country style potatoes, orange juice, and fresh fruit.

Another highlight of the annual clean-up is the occasional encounter with rattlesnakes, large and small, in the weeds or rocks.
